Yesterday the Gravette Lady Lions softball team punched their ticket to the 4A State Tournament. Following the 1-0 win over Clarksville in the first round of the 4A North Regional Tournament, LL sat and wondered about the fast ascension of the GHS softball program.
This will be the third consecutive trip to the state tournament. The Lady Lions have appeared in two straight 4A semifinals. Currently on the roster are three players committed to play in college, with two being Division I. The popularity of the sport in the community is helping raise a generation of younger girls who are dreaming about big softball achievements and successes in the Orange and Black.
There is still a long way to go in the 2019 season and the Lady Lions are set to face a VERY good Morrilton team Saturday at 3:00 but if history is any indication Gravette is about to start playing their best softball.
In all the excitement around Gravette Track and Field winning four state titles this week, LL forgot to mention the names of the Lady Lions who were a part of the second consecutive state championship for Gravette High School in the girl’s 4×800-meter relay.
Sally Bird (senior), Mikey Larson (sophomore), Gracie Berger (junior), and Kaylan Chilton (sophomore) all deserve a big round of applause. Great job ladies!
The first edition of the Monday Mailbag was a pretty big success. LL enjoyed seeing the questions and being able to select a few to answer publicly.
If you have a question for this coming Monday please send it to: email@example.com. Remember, LL guarantees to keep you anonymous.
